Description

Enjoy traditional English pastries in no time, even if you're not an experience baker! The scones are great with tea or coffee and make tasty snacks.

Fresh ingredients required:

  • 150g soft butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 260ml cold milk

Tips:

  • Scones with fruit: try these scones with raspberries, blueberries or wild berries.
  • Freezing: The fully baked scones are perfect for freezing. Simply microwave them for a minute to defrost. The scones can be enjoyed as they are or in the classic English style with cream and marmalade.

Instructions:

  1. Either remove the butter from the refrigerator 1-2 hours before you'd like to start baking or heat the butter in the microwave for 30 seconds
  2. Preheat the oven to 165 ° C (convection ovens)
  3. Remove the sachet with the cinnamon sugar and set it aside.
  4. Pour the baking mix into a large bowl
  5. Add the soft butter, 260 ml of cold milk (see the milk line in the can) and an egg to the baking mix and stir. Then knead the dough by hand, with a food processor or with a Thermomix (using a spatula for 20 seconds at level 6)
  6. Place the dough on a lightly floured work surface and knead it briefly.
  7. Scones without fruit: shape the dough into a circle approx. 23 cm in diameter and about 2 fingers thick.
  8. Scones with fruit: roll out the dough (approx. 40 cm x 23 cm), top with the desired frozen fruit, fold the piece of dough together and then form a circle that is approx. 23 cm in diameter and 2 fingers wide.
  9. Cut the dough into triangles with a large knife. Cut as you would a pizza. Place the individual pieces on a baking sheet covered with baking paper and brush with a whisked-together egg. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture from the sachet onto the dough.
  10. Bake the scones for 24 minutes at 165 ° C and enjoy warm!
